Ms. Reia's Studio

Welcome!

Thank you for stopping by.  I began an adventure many years ago that changed my entire life.  It was the adventure into the world of Music.

I began piano lessons at the age of 7.  This led to playing the piano and organ for churches (their services and choirs of all ages).

I also played the clarinet in the Jr. High School and High School bands.  I even marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

While I love accompanying others, thirty years ago I discovered an even more rewarding opportunity.  I began teaching piano, music theory and music history.  It's a pleasure to share with others and watch them experience the joys that music brings.

Below are answers to some of the questions I get asked.  Feel free to contact me with any questions I haven't covered.

I invite you to join me in this adventure.  There's no telling where it will lead YOU!

  Private Lessons:

All students are offered a well-rounded program of instruction with training in repertoire, theory, musicianship, ear training, technique, and music history.

Lessons are adapted according to the specific needs of each individual student.  (We go as fast or as slow as the student needs to go.)
Music of all styles will be explored with emphasis given on the student's favorite types.  (My goal is to give each student a variety of music to experience.  There's always something new to learn with each piece and genre.)
Private lessons run continuously throughout the year.  (I don't take the summer off.  If you want lessons, I'm available during the summer and holidays.)

Method Books:  I use different Method Series according to the student's learning style.  If the student already has books, we can use them.  (My motto - whatever works to keep the student interested and progressing.)

Recitals:  We have an annual recital each year - usually coinciding with the end of the school year.

We have a good time dressing up, listening to the other students, showing off our skills to our audience and celebrating afterwards with the food that follows.  (My focus is on the students and I want it to be a good experience for them as well as a learning/stretching/growing experience.)

Adult students are welcome to join the younger ones, to have their own recital or skip the recital experience all together.  Whatever works best for them.

Ages:  7 and up - these ages learn quickly and understand that practicing is key to advancing in each lesson.

Under the age of 7 - a complimentary lesson is available to assess the dexterity, commitment, etc. of the student.

I have had success teaching young students.  I've found it takes them longer to work their way through method books, etc. than those who began from the age of 7 and up.

Lesson Location:  As a convenience to you - lessons are given in your home, my studio and via Skype.

Lesson Times:  Flexibility is important to all of us.  I work around your schedule as well as the lesson openings that are available.  Lesson times can be moved as openings occur.

Lesson Fees:  $20 per 30-minute Lesson.  I don't charge a "Travel Fee" at this time and try to keep my fees in line with the going rate in our area.

Thank you again for visiting - I hope to see you again!  Reia
